Making Your Next Attempt to Quit Your Last

Most all smokers faced with the idea of quitting smoking have probably second guessed their ability to follow through. If you are one of these people you’re definitely not alone with your feelings of uncertainty. One of the main reasons a smoker continues to smoke is because of their belief that they can’t commit to quitting smoking when in fact they most certainly can.

In order to quit smoking you’ve to believe that you can quit smoking. Kicking the habit is simply a mind over matter process. You have to convince yourself that you can live without smoking, that you can succeed, and that you are ready to quit once and for all. If you’re able to bring those concepts to the front of your mind, your journey to becoming a non-smoker are going to be easier.

A person who has the desire to quit and the person who wants to quit are two separate people. One will and one won’t. The simple idea of wanting to quit usually never results in the person actually quitting. The person who wants to quit may read a book about quitting smoking or speak to their doctor but they normally don’t follow through or they give up swiftly. The person who has the desire to quit will research the many options they have to get on the right track to becoming a non-smoker, this person is more likely to commit to the new lifestyle of a non-smoker.

To succeed in smoking requires determination and optimism. You must have a clear decision that you’re ready and willing to quit. You have to sell yourself on this idea and follow through with it knowing that you can do it.

You need to train yourself to think positively. You must believe that you can quit, and live the fact that you’re going to quit, and just simply start the process of quitting. All of that might sound redundant, but, thinking negative thoughts, such as believing you cannot do it, will inhibit your full ability to quit. In contrast, if you continuously pump yourself up by cheering yourself on and believing you can quit you’ll quit quicker, easier, and the results it will last.

It is not simple to quit, everybody knows that. But, knowing that it is going to be hard instead of going into the process of quitting thinking it is going to be simple will pay off for you. When the hard times come around you’ll be able to breeze through them because you anticipated some rough patches. Knowing it is going to be hard is different than being discouraged and believing you will fail. Knowing that quitting smoking is going to be hard shows that you are strong enough to carry on the heavy load of cravings and withdrawals.

What happens when you set yourself up to fail? You fail, right? So, of course, if you set yourself up to succeed you’ll succeed. Believe you can quit, make a deal with yourself that you will stick with this even if it gets hard, and take pride in the fact that you are making the ideal decision for your health. You’ll be happier and superior off in life after you’ve quit smoking. While you are in the process of quitting smoking you might have days where you feel horrible. The cravings may be getting to you and the withdrawals might be making you uncomfortable, but the benefits you will reap in the long run will be worth all the pain and aggravation you’ll go through in the first couple of weeks of quitting smoking. You just have to hang in there before you can reap the rewards.
